In addition to general medical consultations we are pleased to offer the following special clinics and services:
All diabetic patients who are not monitored through the hospital will be reviewed at the surgery. You will be able to see the podiatrist, dietician or the diabetic nurse. This clinic is held on a Monday afternoon between13:00 – 17:30 at Pelton Surgery.
The surgery routinely requests all asthmatic and COPD patients to attend a yearly clinic to check how they are doing. If you feel you need to be seen before this you can make an appointment with a doctor.
We are able to offer minor surgery appointments for small procedures such as cyst removal and in-growing toe nails. Please make a routine appointment with a GP and your name will be placed on a waiting list and you will be informed when a minor surgey appointment is available.
Comprehensive confidential advice is available during normal surgery times. Prescriptions for oral contraceptives can be given. Both intra uterine devices and contraceptive implants can also be fitted, however these are classed as minor surgeries and will need a routine GP appointment to assess there suitability.
We currently hold our baby clinics on a Tuesday morning between 09:30 – 10:30 at Fellrose and Tuesday afternoon between 13:00 – 15:30 at Pelton.
From week commencing 7th July 2014, our Baby Clinics will be moving to different times. Fellrose Baby Clinic will be on a Friday morning between 09:30 - 10:30 and Pelton Baby Clinic will be held on a Tuesday morning between 09:00 - 11:00. You will be contacted by the Child Health Department with details of your appointment.
If you are on warfarin medication you will be asked to attend the surgery for regular check- ups. These are held on a Friday afternoon at Pelton 13:00 – 15:30 and a Thursday morning at Fellrose 09:00 – 10:30.
If you are planning a trip abroad you should complete the Travel Vaccine Request Form before making an appointment with a practice nurse at least 8 weeks before you are due to go. This will give you adequate time to discuss any vaccinations you may need. Please be aware that there will be a charge for some vaccinations.
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will sometimes be required. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
