Why are we engaging?

Covid-19 also known as coronavirus, has meant that NHS healthcare staff have needed to use different ways of providing a clinical consultation to ensure that patients still get the healthcare they need. As well as the traditional methods such as face-to-face appointments, GPs, nurses and hospital staff have been using other, safer ways to consult such as telephone, online or video consultations.

The NHS in County Durham, South Tyneside, and Sunderland are working together to understand your thoughts of the different ways people can consult with a healthcare professional at their GP practice. This survey is open to anyone over the age of 16 to complete. 

The feedback from this survey will be added to the insight being gathered through other involvement work being carried out with NHS staff. The report will be used to help us to understand how we can continue to make improvements to services and encourage more people to use digital clinical consultations with their health professional in the future.

All feedback will be treated in strictest confidence and we do not require any personal information that will identify you. This survey is available to complete until 3 July 2020 and should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete.

Following the recent government guidelines, from Monday 15 June 2020 we must ask that all patients attending the practice for an appointment wear a face covering. This does not need to be a surgical mask, it can be as simple as a scarf or bandana that ties behind the head. It must cover your nose and mouth whilst allowing you to breathe comfortably. PLEASE NOTE: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Fellrose surgery will be closed for the foreseeable future from Monday 30 March. Patients who usually attend Fellrose surgery should ring the normal surgery number - 0191 3889898. All your medical needs will still be dealt with during this challenging time.

As per government guidelines, we will be moving to a telephone triage service where all appointments will be triaged by a doctor or nurse practitioner initially and then a further appointment may be arranged after that.

You may find it more convenient to submit an E-Consult where you will receive a response from a clinician within 48 hours. You can do this by clicking the E-Consult banner below.

If your problem is more urgent, please contact the surgery and a telephone triage appointment will be arranged. if the clinician feels you need to be seen, please be reassured that a face to face appointment will be made.

If you have a NEW persistent cough or a high temperature above 37.8C and are worried you may have coronavirus, you need to follow these guidelines:

  •  If you live alone, you should stay at home (self-isolate) for 7 days from the onset of symptoms following the current advice.
  •  If you live with others, then you must stay at home for 7 days but all other household members who remain well must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days.
  •  After 7 days of self-isolation, people who feel better and no longer have a high temperature can return to their normal routine.
  •  If they have serious symptoms that they cannot manage or have no signs of improvement after 7 days they should use NHS111.

As per government guidelines, we can now only prescribe 28 days supply for repeat prescriptions. This applies to all patients, even those who would usually get 2 months supply on their prescription.

The Partners and staff would like to welcome you to our Practice website. We strive to provide the best possible health care for our patients, and hope you will find our website helpful. We offer a range of clinics and services at both our main surgery in Pelton and our branch surgery in Pelton Fell. We also offer a dispensary service at our branch surgery in Pelton.  

At this present time we are short of GPs but we are currently trying to recruit. Please can we remind you that colds and flu should be self managed and there are many conditions that can be treated by nurse practitioners.
