Home Visits

You may only request a home visit if you are a housebound patient or you are too ill to visit the practice. Please remember that in the time it takes for one home visit to be completed upto four patients could have been seen at the practice.

Doctor's bagIf possible please try to telephone reception before 11:30 if you require a home visit, to enable the doctors to plan their afternoon visits.  Non-urgent visits that are requested later in the day may have to be postponed until the following day if the GPs are too busy.

To request a home visit you will need to contact the surgery as soon as possible and will be asked for the following details:-

  • Patients name
  • Date of birth
  • Contact telephone number where the patient can be contacted
  • Address where the patient will be if the doctor visits
  • Reason for request

This information will be forwarded to the doctor on call.

If you have been ill all morning or afternoon please do NOT wait until 17.30 or later to contact the surgery as this could cause a delay in the appropriate action being taken.

Please be aware that you could be visited by any of our GPs including our trainee doctor (F2) or a community nurse.

You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
